The Earth-Its physical state

Excerpts from a lecture by Yogi Bhajan on December 11, 1990

Every drop of water wasted costs energy, every extra light costs energy. All that energy has to be produced. One-third of the energy is wasted. The result is that we are polluting the planet Earth. Our oceans are polluted, our rivers and lakes are polluted, and God bless us, our air is polluted. We have no self-control and the way we are living on this planet, the way we are cutting the forests, the way we are wasting the land, in one hundred years we will reach our doomsday.

I was in Moscow last year. We were about eight hundred people: three hundred religious people; three hundred people of the government—senators, congressmen, legislators, political people; and two hundred scientists from all over the world. We gathered in Moscow, we talked for five days. The scientists kept telling us that if we do not act right now, we will never be in a position to recuperate the Earth. We have reached a point beyond danger. We all understood it. We came back home. Everywhere in America and all over the world there was Earth Day. One Sunday it was celebrated and newspapers carried the stories. The next day there were the same old habits, the same waste of energy, the same waste of water, the same pollution. Do you understand that in two hundred years the United States has become a garbage pit? It’s a lot of land and a lot of resources; and lot of things are gone. It is surprising how much pollution has taken place.

Life has become nothing but smoke. Mankind needs a lot of strength. What is happening? We do not have our perpetual strength.

Excerpts from a lecture by Yogi Bhajan on April 23, 1990

I saw a very beautiful, yellow velvet cloth in the garbage and I pulled and I pulled and I pulled and out it came, on and on and on. It was shocking to me. I made a very beautiful yellow robe out of it, and it’s fantastic! I mean, I have many robes so it must be a special robe, because I still wear it sometimes. Today that velvet is not made, it’s not available, and it was the most costly velvet of its time. So what I mean is this: here we know one thing, dump. Dump the husband, dump the brother, dump the father, dump the mother, dump the family, dump the things—dump. We have only one word in the United States—dump. In real estate they say, “Location, location, location.” In the United States, they say, “Dump, dump, dump.” I came here to say, “Pump, pump, pump; up and up and up and up.” For us, we live by the moral, ethical rules and bylaws; life does not wait for manmade laws. Life is a vibration, consciously lived or unconsciously ignored.

Excerpts from a lecture by Yogi Bhajan on August 17, 1989

A very courageous man, a very strong man, a very real man can talk about peace. Peace doesn’t mean to just talk about peace, peace means we have to put all the pieces together and get to one picture. It’s a song of victory, it’s a song of God, it’s a song of reality. And as I have said, until this Earth stops revolving, if those born of a woman don’t know how to respect woman, there shall be no peace. Just imagine that Mother Earth is a woman. What have we done to it? We ourselves do not know. What are we going to do to it? We are not going to know.

Our souls are in pain. Our souls are part of our tragedy, and Mother Earth is crying in vain. That is the song of reality. And we are still gossiping and boasting; that is our insanity, and we call ourselves human, the light of God. We do not remember our personality. Today is one day when you have honored me by coming here and participating with me in the name of Almighty God, who out of His many bountiful blessings, gave us the planet Earth which we have raped, abused, misused—and we are not stopping. We are not at peace with Mother Earth, we are not at peace with environments, we are not at peace with ourselves, we are not at peace within ourselves. The time has come when we must all wake up to a simple reality: without peace what else are we?

Everything about you will be taken care of. Simple. And once you start your day with something good and nice like that, then you will go on under that rhythm for the whole day. Without prayer you are weak. You are not complete. We feel empty no matter how many possessions we have if we do not fully possess our self. That emptiness comes to us because we have not got the inflow of the unknown into the known of us. It is that combination we are seeking as humans. It is that combination that makes us failures or makes us successful.

I am a human being with certain known powers. There is a certain known concept of mind. And there is a certain unknown concept of mind which is my reserve, which is right behind me all the time. Prayer is tapping energy from my own unknown. Whenever you want to reach your own unknown you pray. And the only channel through which your own unknown can reach you for help is the power of your own prayer. Prayer is not talking to God.

Those who see whatever is happening around them and whatever is around them as God, are always tapped into their known and unknown. There are those who are only tapped into their cloud. Yeah, that is a cloud up there. You know it, and I know it. But who brought that cloud? And who made the sky blue? …God is so great that whosoever touches that greatness must appreciate it. And that appreciation of God is prayer. Prayer is your concept of appreciating the infinity of God which is your unknown. It is a relationship right here. Between the known and the unknown there is a relationship, an appreciation of the unknown, the vastness, and the creativity. “Gimme a car, a Mazda. I am your good son.” That is not prayer.

Learn to call on yourself. Learn to be yourself. Learn to vibrate. That’s one good thing we all can learn. Let us become prayerful in attitude. Then God will bless you in every field, whatever your field is. It’s just a matter of practice. Once this practice is established in you, you shall not have a problem. The only problem is when you stand against yourself… You must reach out for yourself. All other powers are useless if you don’t have your own power. And the power of your soul is the most pure power. Let the vibration go out of you… [From your heart, not your head!] It is your prayer. It will meet all challenges unto Infinity. Let your soul touch the unlimited shores.
